Marcus McNabb, son of Danny and Jean McNabb, graduated from Ropes High School in 2000. From Ropes, he went to Colorado Springs, CO, and attended the US Air Force Academy, earning his Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences. Upon graduation in 2004, Marcus was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force and sent to Nellis Air Force Base (AFB), NV, near Las Vegas. There he worked on electronic warfare testing of multiple airframes including the F-22 Raptor, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-15 Eagle, and B-2 Spirit and was also promoted to First Lieutenant.
In 2007, Marcus married Kori Moore of Ropesville (Class of 2004) and together they moved to Monterey, CA, where Marcus attended the Naval Postgraduate School, earning Master of Science in Information Warfare Systems Engineering and Master of Science in Applied Mathematics. Marcus was also promoted to the rank of Captain in 2008. After graduation in 2009, Marcus and Kori moved to Ramstein Air Base, Germany, where Marcus worked on the staff for US Air Forces Europe. In addition to much traveling and sightseeing, Marcus worked on several projects such as lessons learned, force basing options, aircraft requirements to fulfill mission needs, and theater plans assessment as well as working in support of Operation ODYSSEY DAWN.
In 2011, Marcus and Kori moved to Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, near Dayton, where Marcus would work on his Doctorate Degree. In 2014, Marcus was promoted to the rank of Major and earned his PhD in Operations Research. Marcus and Kori then moved to Kirtland AFB, NM, in Albuquerque, where Marcus joined the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center. While there, Marcus conducted research in support of nuclear sustainment and acquisition and ran operations for a new 150-person unit. While at Kirtland, Marcus deployed to Al Udeid Air Base,Qatar, where he worked in the 609th Combined Air Operations Center in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE combating the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
After his return from deployment in 2016, Marcus and Kori moved to their current residence at Maxwell AFB, AL, near Montgomery. Marcus spent one year at Squadron Officer College teaching military studies and leadership to 70+ Air Force Captains and rebuilt the college’s academic assessment program. Marcus is currently studying multi-domain operations at the Air Command and Staff College and working toward earning a Master of Military Operational Art and Science in 2018. Upon graduation, Marcus and Kori will likely depart Maxwell AFB on another Air Force adventure!
Marcus and Kori have traveled to many parts of the world, seen countless wonderful sights, and embarked on numerous fantastic adventures. Thank you to Ropes ISD for laying the foundation enabling us to pursue our dreams!
