About the South Plains Educational Coop (SPECO)

SPECO is a dedicated team of 41 professionals who provide comprehensive special education and support services to eight districts, including Ropes ISD, Morton, Anton, Meadow, Smyer, Sundown, Whiteface, and Whitharral.

This partnership allows Ropes ISD to access a wide range of specialized services and programs, ensuring that students with disabilities receive the highest level of care and support.

SPEDTex

The Special Education Information Center (SPEDTex) provides resources and interactive features for increasing family awareness of disabilities and special education processes, with the goal of improving partnerships between schools and families.

Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Every student with disabilities deserves an education tailored to their unique needs. Through Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), we create customized plans that identify specific goals, required accommodations, and the support services necessary for each student to thrive. Our IEPs are developed collaboratively with families, educators, and specialists to ensure every child has a clear pathway to success. Progress is monitored regularly, with adjustments made to meet evolving needs.

Speech and Language Services

Effective communication is a cornerstone of learning and personal growth. Our Speech and Language Services provide specialized support for students with challenges such as articulation disorders, fluency issues, language delays, and voice disorders. Through individualized therapy sessions, group activities, and classroom strategies, we empower students to express themselves confidently and develop essential communication skills.

Occupational and Physical Therapy

Participation in school activities and daily routines is vital for every student. Our Occupational and Physical Therapy services focus on enhancing fine and gross motor skills, mobility, and sensory integration. Occupational therapy helps students with tasks like handwriting, self-care, and organization, while physical therapy addresses mobility, strength, and coordination. These therapies are integrated into students' educational plans to maximize their independence and participation.

Behavioral and Emotional Support

A student’s emotional well-being is essential for academic success. Our Behavioral and Emotional Support programs are designed to help students develop resilience, self-regulation, and positive social skills. Interventions may include one-on-one counseling, behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and group sessions focusing on emotional health and conflict resolution. By providing a safe and supportive environment, we enable students to navigate challenges and reach their full potential.

Inclusion Support

At Ropes ISD, we believe in the power of inclusive education. Our Inclusion Support services help students with disabilities succeed in general education classrooms while receiving the necessary accommodations and modifications. This may include co-teaching models, specialized instructional strategies, or classroom aides to ensure students can access the curriculum alongside their peers. Our goal is to promote equity, collaboration, and a sense of belonging for all students.
