Bullying Reporting & Policy

According to the Texas Education Code, bullying is defined as a single significant act or a pattern of acts by one or more students that exploit an imbalance of power and:

• Cause physical or emotional harm to a student.
• Place a student in reasonable fear of harm to themselves or their property.
• Create an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment.

Bullying can occur in various forms, including:

• Physical: Hitting, pushing, or damaging personal property.
• Verbal: Teasing, name-calling, or making inappropriate comments.
• Social/Relational: Spreading rumors, excluding others, or public embarrassment.
• Cyberbullying: Using digital platforms to harass, intimidate, or harm others.

When a bullying report is submitted, Ropes ISD follows a structured process to investigate and address the situation:

Investigation:

• All reports are thoroughly investigated by campus administrators or designated personnel.

Support for Victims:

• Immediate steps are taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected student(s).

Intervention for Perpetrators:

• Appropriate disciplinary actions and interventions are implemented in accordance with district policy.

Ongoing Monitoring:

• Follow-up measures ensure that the situation is resolved, and no further incidents occur.
